Mediation
What is mediation, and how does it work?
Sometimes an accident case can be settled without going to court. One of the ways to do this is called mediation.
Mediation is the process by which a third party (usually a retired judge or attorney) meets with both parties in the same location to settle an issue before going to court. The process varies, but usually involves the two parties sitting in separate rooms. The mediator walks back and forth between the two rooms explaining and discussing what the other party will agree to in settlement. Many times this process will result in an agreeable settlement, avoiding having to go to court.
